- How is decking damage identified, priced and approved?
- Which underlayment and edge components are included?
- Will flashing be replaced, repaired or reused?
- How are ventilation concerns evaluated?
Then, discuss the details of the job
Access, staging and property protection matter. Ask who your contact will be, how schedule changes are communicated and how additional work is approved. A clear process can help avoid misunderstandings.
- Disposal and cleanup responsibilities.
- Protection of landscaping and adjacent surfaces.
- Material substitutions and change approval.
- Payment schedule and exclusions.
- Applicable written product and workmanship terms.
Finally, choose with the whole scope in view
Fair pricing reflects actual work. If one proposal is substantially different, ask what explains the difference. Do not assume that a more expensive proposal includes every detail, or that the lowest proposal necessarily addresses the same problem. Get the answers in writing.
